What is a Truffle?

The truffle is actually the fruiting body (known as an ascocarp) of specialised fungi known as a mycorrhiza. Mycorrhiza literally means root fungus and this fungus lives symbiotically on the roots of a host tree (typically Oaks and hazelnuts). The fungus provides the tree roots with phosphates and nitrates and in return takes carbohydrates and sugars for its growth.

This place is stunning! It is located at the top of a hill with an incredible view. The place is so peaceful and the accommodation itself was perfect for a weekend couples getaway. What really blew my wife and I away though was the incredible hospitality shown by Samantha and Mike. They provided us with a survey before we arrived so that they could customise our stay. They took the time to give us a tour of their property and a demonstration by their truffle dog Digga. To top everything off they made us 2 delicious homemade pizzas and brought them straight to our front door Amazing!. We will definitely be staying here again.

Our recent stay at the Tuscany Truffle Farm was an experience we will never forget. I wanted a country escape for my birthday celebration, and it was perfect. Nestled in the picturesque countryside, the accommodation exceeded all of our expectations, offering a cozy and luxurious retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city and everyday life. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the hosts, Sam and Mike, whose hospitality knew no bounds. Their attentiveness and eagerness to ensure our comfort made our stay truly unforgettable. We received some beautiful welcome treats and a birthday cake surprise which was very special and thoughtful. During our stay, we tried the pizza’s, gnocchi and risotto off Sam’s homemade menu. Our food experience was nothing short of exceptional. The highlight of our experience was undoubtedly the opportunity to explore the truffle farm. Guided by Sam and Mikes knowledge, we immersed ourselves in the fascinating world of truffle cultivation, gaining insights into the processes involved in producing them. It was made even more memorable by getting the opportunity to plant a native plant in the regeneration area. Beyond the farm, we explored the nearby town and visited a local winery and a dumpling restaurant which were both recommendations by Sam and Mike. Overall, our time at the Tuscany Truffle Farm was nothing short of memorable. We left feeling rejuvenated and inspired, with memories that will last a lifetime. For anyone seeking a wholesome getaway, we wholeheartedly recommend this experience. To Sam and Mike, thank you for an unforgettable experience. We wish you all the best and hope to see you soon.

Well where do we start! Myself and my girlfriend decided to book a last minute break away to escape the city. We called Samantha and Mike at 11:00 AM on the 30th of December and when we arrived by 5:00 PM they had the place looking amazing with complimentary wine and truffle products. Once we settled in they gave us a tour of the farm and we got to meet digga who helps sniff out the truffles when in season. We had fresh pizzas cooked for us which were amazing. The accommodation was the nicest we have stayed in Australia. It is very modern and clean and a perfect place just to relax and switch off. The views from the barn were incredible and it had a big window with large comfy seating which is where we spent the majority of our stay. On the 2nd day we explored the local towns and tried the dumpling restaurant recommended to us by Samantha and Mike which didn't disappoint. When we got back we met up with Samantha and Mike and shared a couple of bottles of wine and Samatha had made us a really nice dessert for that evening. Nothing was too much trouble for them both and given the really short notice in arriving they made us feel very at home. We cannot recommend this place enough. There is something special about this farm and we can't wait to come back.

“Take my breath away”. Beautiful view of the Capertee Valley and surrounding landscape. As soon as we entered, impressed by the luxury accommodations, like one would find at a high end hotel. Spacious & well designed. Thoughtful details, such as welcome basket, robes & slippers. Large comfortable window bench with view of the truffle orchard, distant mountains and wild kangaroos. Great spot to sit, drink wine & rejuvenate your spirit. Watched the sunrise over the valley & enjoyed sunset sitting next to the fire pit. A part of us will remain on the farm, we planted a mountain pepper plant. Our hosts Samantha & Mike toured us around the property. Hands on, knowledge and friendly. They were a pleasure to spend time with. Thank you for a wonderful Australia experience.
